Timelines for Western Christianity

Part One: Chronological Theology. This chronological theology began several years ago, when a student asked me what Baptists thought of Roman Catholic doctrine, being he could find nothing to that effect on the Internet. Never having considered that question, nor its answer, his question caused me to start a chronological chart, which I began from a chart in Lorraine Boettner's Roman Catholicism (Presbyterian and Reformed, 1962), 7-9. Disclaimer: these notes represent my research and thoughts, and do not represent the thoughts of any Baptist group.

Part Two: Chronological History, circa 1002-1572. Originally called "Inquisition and Martyrdom," this timeline originated from my research of Jean Crespin's 1570 Martyrology (Geneva, 1570). Many historical details have also been added, along with martyrs listed in other sources, such as Thielemann van Bracht's Martyrs' Mirror (a 1660 Anabaptist Martyrology). The reader will also see lettered notations on quotes, items of interest, and after the names of each martyr. These letters correspond to a list of sources found at the end of the document.

Part Three: Politics of State and Politics of Theology. This summary overview develops the politics of the theological developments in Western Christianity, with an emphasis on what is typically called "Church History One" (0-1500), although tracking through into the 21st Century.
